Assoc. Prof. Bastien Llamas is a former ARC Future Fellow who leads the Molecular Anthropology Group at the University of Adelaide’s Australian Centre for Ancient DNA (ACAD). He is an expert in genomics and paleogenomics. He investigates a range of molecular mechanisms that facilitate human adaptation to diverse environmental and cultural stressors. His research sits at the interface between population history and personalised genomics, with a strong focus on improving genomic data and human resources to the highest standards required to enable Indigenous inclusion in paleogenomics and genomic medicine. He intends to integrate past and present Indigenous genetic diversity and assess the relationships between peoples and places through time.

Dr. Xavier Roca-Rada is a postdoctoral researcher working in paleogenomics. He specializes in population demography and the social organization of the past through the analysis of ancient DNA. He was awarded his PhD at the Australian Centre for Ancient DNA (ACAD), University of Adelaide, in December 2022 and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Coimbra, Portugal, until May 2024. He currently holds an Honorary Position at ACAD and is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Center for Computational Molecular Biology (CCMB), Brown University, USA
